Mumps
Protocols
Clinical Features:
- Swelling of parotid gland (unilateral/bilateral)
- Fever
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Vomiting
- Abdominal pain (pancreatitis)
- Testicular pain(orchitis)
Investigations:
- CBC with CRP
- X-ray chest (Pneumonia)
- if abdomial pain:
- Serum Amylase
- Lipase
- USG Of Whole abdomen
Rx:
- Intake plenty of water
- Hot Compression in tender area
- Regular bathing & tooth brushing
if fever & pain:
Syp.Napa (Paracetamol)(120mg/5 ml)
Dose: 15mg/kg/dose ...3/4 times
daily.......3-5 days (if temp present)
- 5-8 kg = 4ml -
5ml
- 8-11 kg =
5-7ml
- 12-16 kg= 10 ml /2
TSF
If Cough :
Syrp.Ambrox (15mg/5ml)
- ২-৫বছর পর্যন্ত→০.৫ চামচ করে ২-৩বার
- ৫-১০বছর পর্যন্ত→১চামচ করে ২-৩বার
- ১০বছর এর উপরে→২চামচ করে ৩বার
- 2 ml দিনে ৩ বার.......৫ দিন
If Orchitis/ Ophoritis:its reproductive age
- Strict bed rest
- Local support for scrotum
1. Tab. Cortan (Prednisolone)(20mg)
- Dose: 1mg/kg/day(max 40mg/day)
- 1+0+1.......(after meal)........5-7 days (no need teparing)
2. Famotak(Famotidine)(40mg/5ml)
Dose: 0.5mg/kg daily
- 1-2
year = 1-2ml 2 times daily ......5-7 days
- 3-5
year = 2.5 ml 2 times daily ......5-7 days
- 6-10
year = 5 ml 2 times daily ......5-7 days
To prevent secondary infection:
Syp Moxacil(Amoxicillin) (125mg/5ml)
- Dose: 15mg/kg/dose .........3 times daily .....7 days
Prevention:
- MMR vaccin. দিবো
- আক্রান্ত বাচ্চাকে ভালো বাচ্চা থেকে আইসোলেসনে রাখবো। onset of parotid swelling এর 9-10 দিন।
