Volkmann Contracture

Protocols

Volkmann contracture:

  • Permanent shortening (contracture) of forearm muscles, usually resulting from injury, that gives rise to a clawlike deformity of the hand, fingers, and wrist. 


Clinical Features:

  • 1)Decreased sensation.
  • 2)Paleness of the skin.
  • 3)Muscle weakness and loss (atrophy)
  • 4)Deformity of the wrist, hand, and fingers that causes the hand to have a claw-like appearance.

Rx:

  • Rest 

1. Tab.Naprox(500mg) (Naproxen

  • 1+0+1(after meal),…...7 days

2. cap.Nexum(Esomeprazol)  (20mg) 

  • 1+0+1 …………….10 days

3.Tab.Lexaton(50mg) (Tolpersone)

  • 1+1+1 (after meal )….10 days

4. Tab.Rivotril (0.5mg)(clonazepam

  • 0+0+1………….10 days


5. Emergency surgery may need

6. physiotherapy &  occupational therapy
