Atonic Bladder: 

flaccid or acontractile bladder, refers to a bladder whose muscles don’t fully contract. This makes it hard to urinate.


Causes

  • spina bifida
  • diabetic neuropathy
  • multiple sclerosis
  • traumatic injuries, such as a hard fall or collision
  • long or difficult vaginal childbirth
  • pelvic surgery
  • enlarged prostate
  • pelvic tumor
  • urethral stricture.

Clinical Features:

  • Overflow incontinence 

investigation:

  • 1)Cystometrogram
  • 2)Electromyogram
  • 3)USG
  • 4)pelvic MRI 

Rx: 

Non Surgical:

  • Plan catheter 

Surgical :

  • 1)Supra-pubic catheter
  • 2)Urinary diversion
  • 3)Cystoplasty
