Premature Rupture of Membrane(PROM)

Premature Ruputre of Membrane:

• Membrane rupture before 37 weaks of pregnancy 

Clinical Features:

• 1)Leaking or a gush of watery fluid from the vagina
• 2)Constant wetness in underwear

Investigations:

• 1)USG of P/P
• 2)CBC
• 3)Blood grouping & Rh typing

💞Rx: (indoor)

• Diet-N (immediate C/S -NPO)
• Absolute bed rest
  
• Use sterile valval pad
• O2 inhalation stat & sos ( if fetal distress)
  

• I/V @20 d/min

2. Inj.cefuroxime(Furotil/Famocef) (750mg) 

• 1 vial I/V stat &12 hrly

3.Cap.omeprazole(Seclo/PPI) (20 mg)

• 1+0+1 (b/m)

4.Tab.Levosalbutamol(Purosal)(1mg)

• 1+1+1.... 7 days

5.Tab.Allyestrenol(gestrenol/geston)(5 mg)

• 1+1+1.......1 months

6.Inj.Tiemonium methylsulphate(algin/viset)

• 1amp I/M stat & bd ( if pain)

7.Inj.Dexamethasone(oradexon/dexa/Roxadex)

• 2.5 amp I/M stat & 2nd dose after 12 hrs of 1st dose
  

8.Tab.Prenat-CI(iron)

• 1+0+1(A/M).....continue 

9.Cap.Vit B complex (Vplex/Cap.B50Forte)

• 1+0+1.......continue 

If Mother Anaemic then

• Order Fesh Human Blood(FHB)

Advice:

• Absolute bed rest 
  
• Fetal movement monitoring 
  
• Stop smoking
