Amoebiasis

Clinical Features:

• Cramping (abdominal pain).
• Diarrhea (sometimes with rectal bleeding).
• Fever.
• Loose stools (amebiasis stool color may not change, but stools may be watery).
• Nausea.

Investigations:

• Liver Function Test 
• USG of W/A 
• Colonoscopy 
• Stool RME

Rx:

Early hepatic amoebiasis

1. Tab.Filmet([post id="406" title="Metronidazole"])(400mg)

• 2+2+2………..5-10 days
  

OR

Tab.Zox(Nitazoxanide)(500mg)

• 1+0+1………...3-5 days

2.Cap.Seclo([post id="391" title="Omeprazole"]) (20mg)

• 1+0+1………..10 days

3.Tab.Dilamid(Diloxanide)(500mg)

• 1+0+1……….10 days

 Prevention:

• Thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables before eating.
  
• Avoid eating fruits or vegetables unless you wash and peel them yourself.
  
• Stick to bottled water and soft drinks.
  
• If you must drink water, boil it or treat it with iodine.
  
• Avoid ice cubes or fountain drinks.
