Von Willebrand Disease
Protocols
Clinical Features:
- 1)Excessive bleeding from an injury or after surgery or dental work.
- 2)Frequent nosebleeds that don't stop within 10 minutes.
- 3)Heavy or long menstrual bleeding.
- 4)Heavy bleeding during labor and delivery.
- 5)Blood in your urine or stool.
- 6)Easy bruising or lumpy bruises.
Investigations:
- 1)CBC with PBF
- 2) PT - normal
- 3) BT- Prolonged
- 4) APTT- Prolonged
Rx: (Hospital treatment)
- Counselling about the disease
1.inj.FVIII 100 unit
- I/v stat & daily for 7 days
OR
inj.FFP
- 1 unit I/v stat &daily..... 5-7 days
if several bleeding
inj.Traxyl
- 1 amp i/v &tds.... 5-7 days
if any infection
inj. Ceftriaxone (1 gm)
- 1vial i/v stat & bd..... 7 days
Advice : pt Referred to hemato-oncologist for better management.
