Bulimia Nervosa:
- Bulimia is an eating disorder. It is characterized by uncontrolled episodes of overeating, called bingeing. This is followed by purging with methods such as vomiting or misuse of laxatives.
Clinical Features:
- 1)Usually a normal or above average body weight.
- 2)Recurrent episodes of binge eating and fear of not being able to stop eating.
- 3)Self-induced vomiting (usually secretive)
- 4)Excessive exercise.
- 5)Excessive fasting.
- 6)Peculiar eating habits or rituals.
- 7)Inappropriate use of laxatives or diuretics.
Investigations:
- 1)CBC
- 2)Urine RME
- 3)Echo
- 4)LFT
- 5)T4,TSH
Rx:
- CBT
- Self help
- Interpersonal psychotherapy
