Liver Abscess

Protocols

Clinical Features:
  • 1)abdominal pain, especially in the upper right portion of the abdomen
  • 2)cough
  • 3)dark urine
  • 4)difficulty breathing
  • 5)fever or chills
  • 6)malaise or lethargy
  • 7)nausea with or without vomiting
  • 8)unexplained weight loss


Investigations: 
  • 1)Usg of biliary systen
  • 2)CT Scan of hepato-biliary system
  • 3)Usg guide Aspiration
  • 4)CBC
  • 5)CXR
  • 6)Blood for C/S 
  • 7) Serum albumin
  • 8)STOOL RME & C/S

Rx:

1.Tab. Ciprocin([post id="408" title="Ciprofloxacin"]) (500mg) 1+০+1…. 3 wks

2.Tab. Filmet ([post id="406" title="Metronidazole"])(400mg) 1+1+1.....6 wks

3.Cap. Maxpro([post id="392" title="Esomeprazole"]) (20mg) 1+০+1 (30 min before meal)....... 15 days

4.Cap. Anadol([post id="453" title="Tramadol-Hydrochloride"]) (50mg) 1+1+1 (after meal -If pain)


 if abscess is large or no response to antibiotics-Usg guided drainage

Follow up : 

  • regular check by usg if size is reducing
