Clinical Features Unguium:




1.onycholysis, hyperkeratosis, and decoloration of different grades of severity

D/D:

1.Nail psoriasis

2.Nail Lichen Planus



Treatment of Tinea Unguium/Onychomycosis:

🗒️Rx:

For Finger Nail : 

1. Pulse therapy:

Cap.Itra ([post id="556" title="Itraconazole"]) (200mg) ........1+0+1 ...7 days 

then 1 capsule per month .....2 month 

OR

Tab.Xfin ([post id="555" title="Terbinafine"]) (250mg) ...0+0+1......2 Months

OR

Cap.Candinil ([post id="554" title="Fluconazole"]) (150mg)...

0+0+1...2 days per weeks ......for 6 months 

2.Candirox ([post id="571" title="Ciclopirox"])nail lacquer solution ...apply over nail ...once daily at night ....1 year

 If any Secondary infection:

3.Tab.Cefaclav ([post id="400" title="Cefuroxime"]) (500mg) ...1+0+1......7 days(to Prevent 2ndry infection)


Toe Nail:

1. Pulse therapy:

Cap.Itra ([post id="556" title="Itraconazole"]) (200mg) ........1+0+1 ...7 days 

then 1 capsule per month .....4 month 

OR

Tab.Xfin ([post id="555" title="Terbinafine"]) (250mg) ...0+0+1......4 Months

OR

Cap.Candinil ([post id="554" title="Fluconazole"]) (150mg)...

0+0+1...2 days per weeks ......for 12 months 

2.Candirox ([post id="571" title="Ciclopirox"])nail lacquer solution ...apply over nail ...once daily at night ....1 year

 If any Secondary infection:

3.Tab.Cefaclav ([post id="400" title="Cefuroxime"]) (500mg) ...1+0+1......7 days(to Prevent 2ndry infection)


Advice:

1.Keep your hands and feet clean and dry.

2.Clip your fingernails and toenails short and keep them clean.

3.Don't walk barefoot in areas like locker rooms or public showers.

4.Don't share nail clippers with other people
